Genres: Dystopia, Young Adult

Synopsis:

TheOnlyBoy_cover4x6Mary is stuck in Section One, living with three hundred women in a crumbling hospital. She wonders what life was like two centuries ago, before the Cleansing wiped out all the men. But the rules—the Matriarch's senseless rules—prevent her from exploring the vacant city to find out.Taylor's got a dangerous secret: he's a boy. His compound's been destroyed, and he's been relocated to Section One. Living under the Matriarch means giving up possessions, eating canned food and avoiding all physical contact. Baggy clothes hide his flat chest and skinny legs, but if anyone discovers what lies beneath, he'll be exiled. Maybe even executed.

Mary's never seen a boy—the Matriarch cut the pictures of men from the textbooks—and she doesn't suspect Taylor's secret. If she knew, she might understand the need to stop the girls from teasing him. If she knew, she might realize why she breaks the rules, just to be near him. Then again, she might be frightened to death of him.

Taylor should go. The Matriarch is watching his every move. But running means leaving Mary—and braving the land beyond the compound's boundaries.

THE REVIEW

A dystopian genre book ! Ok , I was excited when I found out I had an ARC of this story , I must say that I am particularly in chaos as this genre is concerned, and there are very few books that attract my attention and desire to read.

This book is no exception , with that cover this premise attracted me immediately, would happen literally in a world without men? What if one exists among women ? and remains , what if he were forbidden to have contact with him, and help him cover it up? In a world where there are matriarchal , defined laws and surprises in between.

Taylor is the only man alive and must live among around women . You will need to cover up for a while as their future would live to death on his way came across with Maria , ella is a curious girl and want to know what life was like before the Purification, but there are questions that should not be repondidas and his life has revolved around the new rules, but when Taylor enters his life his curiosity and twists could be on your agenda .

The story has its strong points and its bad points, but it is still interesting and enriching the fact that develops and covers the history , the narrative is fluid , fast and gradually takes shape . Taylor and Maria are our protagonists , they narrate the story from different perspectives but with a common purpose , discover what happened before all the new order and the future held for them.

The story has potential, I like the fact they put the same level for men and women , different paths to motherhood and the fact of survival in a different world is concerned. But at the same time shows that both men and women need us greatly and we can not go against a natural stream .

IN Overall I liked the story , has interesting things , handles situations that may give you some time to think and while it has the odd hole and had to stop to rest and stop breathing , it makes you have a great time and a very good reading for your weekend .

If you're a fan of this genre world for anything, you should miss this book if you want this genre in terms YA, also is for you.
