Perfectly Broken by Prescott Lane | Blog Tour Review + Giveaway |

Perfectly Broken

by Prescott Lane

Publication date: March 2014
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Even after years of trauma therapy, Peyton still believes she’s broken.

She has little desire to date or show off her natural beauty, content simply to hang out

with her best friends and run her pie shop in New Orleans.  But her world turns upside-down when a handsome architect and self-confessed player shows up in her shop and thinks she’s perfect, much more than the usual hook-up.  While Peyton does her best to resist his charms, believing she could never be enough for him, she can’t deny the obvious heat between them.

With Reed determined to have her, Peyton must decide whether to continue to hide behind her apron and baggy clothes or take a chance and share her scars with Reed, a man with a playboy reputation and scars of his own — a dark past he can’t possibly share with Peyton, not after learning the horrors she’s endured.  But if they can find a way to trust each other, and themselves, they just might be able to heal, to save each other, to live perfectly broken together.

When I saw the title of the book really I caught my attention, and the synopsis left me with a touch of curiosity, so when I saw the title on a tour, simply do not hesitate and I took a ticket to read the story of Peyton.

I do not regret taking this reading, at first I maybe I take a bit to adapt me to the format but after an adjustment to take the pace of the story and flowed in a delicate way and simultaneously hard.

As a strong theme you can wrap it in a synchronized harmony of sweetness and bitterness, definitely, this is what happens in the book. Hope, desire, self-exploration and overcome difficulties, goes hand in hand, both in principle for yourself and later the people who love you, to reinforce,

Peyton is broken inside and their defense mechanism is to be hidden, not to attract attention, and attend  your business despite the therapy she wears, his demons are still there, inside his soul She is strong and definitely something unexpected could will activate the desire get  outside and show your beauty.

Reed, our other protagonist, who will help Payton to get that inner and outer beauty that is hidden, and not only that, Payton take out the shadows hanging over him.Shadows that could cause  doubt any girl, thanks to the fame he possesses. The road will not be easy, someone broken looking believing in someone else and other trying to show the best of yourself to others, both with a past to face.

I like, recommend it to all those girls (or guys) who for various reasons have felt broken inside, it is a novel that handles in various types of feelings the evolution of the characters. And it blends well with the supporting cast, which also have a defined character, helping to emphasize to our protagonists,

The combination of rhythms, feelings, characters, themes that was treated and the handling slower but is  than you also enjoy a story of love, is what I liked most. Highlight the story and depth of the straightforward. Using a rich blend of story.

Late Call by Emma Hart |BookBlitz + Excerpt + Giveaway|

Late Call

(Call #1)

 by Emma Hart

Publication date: May 1st 2014
Genres: Adult, Erotica, Romance

LateCallShe’s a high class call girl. He’s taking over his father’s business.
Seven years ago, they fell in love in Paris.

They walked away at the end of the summer, never imagining they’d meet again.
Now he’s her client.

We fell in love the way you jump from a cliff. Hard and fast with a reckless sense of abandon. The six weeks we spent together changed my life, but at seventeen, I was naive. I was a dreamer. A believer.
Now I’m twenty-four and cynical. I don’t believe in love. There’s no place for such emotions as a high class escort. The only things I’m allowed to feel are physical – and that’s why it’s so damn hard when the client of a last minute job turns out to be the man I left in France seven years ago. When he buys me for six weeks at triple my rate, my agent makes it clear I have no choice but to take the job despite our previous relationship. And my heart makes it very clear I have to stay firmly on top of the cliff this time.

Because for six weeks, I once again belong to Aaron Stone.

“Don’t think I didn’t notice what you did back there,” he says in a low voice.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” I give him my best innocent eyes.
His lips quirk into that smirk, and he steps forward when the barman disappears again. He rests his hand on my waist, his fingers flexing against the lace of my dress, and drops his eyes to mine.
“No, you have no idea of the effect you have on men simply by walking past them.”
“Not at all.” I run my fingers up his stomach, ignoring the feeling of solid muscle there, and tweak his bow tie. “It’s not my job to know the effect I have on them, rather, merely to affect them.”
“Well let me say you do it…” He bends his head toward mine. “…Spectacularly.”
“Thank you.” I pull on the tie harder and it unravels, hanging loosely around his neck, and I undo the top button of his shirt.
“What are you doing?”
I lean up and rest my mouth by his ear. “Giving people something to talk about. Isn’t that what I’m supposed to be doing?” My thigh brushes against his as I cross my legs.
“It’s absolutely what you should be doing.” Aaron says his words into my hair, and I turn my face into his.
“Then you should stop questioning me and allow me to do it.”
His hand flattens against my back, drawing us closer. “You play a dangerous game, Dayton.”
“It’s only dangerous if you don’t trust the person standing in front of you – if you don’t know their breaking point.”
“What makes you think you know mine?”
I smile against his cheek. “Have you forgotten? I know your breaking point and your tipping point, and I know exactly how to get you there.”
“It’s been seven years, as you keep reminding me. What if it’s changed?”
“I’m very good at adapting.” I pull back so a whisper of air hovers between our lips. “But it hasn’t changed a bit.”
“She think she’s so smart.”
Another smile tugs at my lips, and I whisper, “She knows if she drops her hand and brushes it against your groin, you’ll be hard and ready to take her in the first possible place.”
“Is that right?”
“Mhmm. A wall is the likely choice…” I rest my fingers against his belt, and he tenses. “Looks like she’s as smart as she thinks she is if you’re tense at my fingers sitting here… nowhere near the erection you’re failing to hide.”
He chuckles low, a raspy tone to it. “Your game is very, very dangerous, Miss Black.”
“And you get to play it for a whole six weeks. Aren’t you lucky?”
He curls his fingers around mine at his belt. “The only luck here will be if we leave Vegas without me fucking you against every wall of our suite.”

The Barricades by Cate Dean:

Daniel Reed fought for his life.

But he knew, even as he ducked the blow meant for his face, that the three boys who dragged him out here wouldn’t stop until he lay bleeding at their feet.

He decided to make it as difficult as possible.

“Is that the best you can do, Mandore?” Tomas Hurdy, the obvious instigator, taunted the tall boy who had just taken the swing at Daniel. “My baby sister can throw a better punch.”

I bet she can. Daniel stumbled backward over ground left ridged by the terra machines.

Hurdy probably came out of the womb punching.

Hurdy barreled toward Daniel, all two hundred plus pounds of him. Daniel waited until the last possible moment and leaped sideways. Hurdy roared past him, tripped on a rock hard ridge and slammed face first into the dirt.

Daniel spun around, knowing that retaliation would be swift, and probably fatal—and ran smack into his third tormentor. Trevor Harp—someone he thought was his friend.

Before he could escape Trevor grabbed his right arm and wrenched it up behind his back. The pain nearly doubled him.

“Good job, Trev.” Hurdy dusted off his shirt as he stood. “Now hold him still.”

Through a blur of pain Daniel saw the long, curved knife appear in Hurdy’s right hand. Panic lent him strength and he struggled to free himself. Trevor tightened his grip, caught Daniel’s left wrist, leaving him completely defenseless.

Hurdy buried the knife in Daniel’s left arm, just below the elbow. He screamed, agony exploding through him. The knife was iron—and would keep him from healing the wound himself.

“Shut him up!” Hurdy hissed. Trevor obeyed and let go of Daniel’s right arm, reaching up to cover his mouth. The returning blood flow was a small pain compared to the fire raging down his left arm. Hurdy followed with the blade, opening his forearm to the wrist.

“That’s a good start.”

Daniel screamed again when Hurdy yanked out the knife. Blood poured down his hand, pooled on the hard packed dirt. What was left of his strength ran out with the blood and he collapsed against Trevor.

“I think that’s enough,” Trevor said, his voice quiet. He let go of Daniel’s mangled arm and caught him around the waist, holding him upright. “We were not told to kill him, Tom.”

“Well, I guess the rabble got carried away. Walk now, Trev, if you don’t have the stomach. I’m going to cut on him a while, make up some for what his dad took from mine.”

Daniel swallowed, heart pounding. Hurdy Senior had stolen from Father, lied about it, and been punished severely. Now he was about to pay for the rash decision to make the older Hurdy an example.

Mandore moved in, clenching and unclenching his fists. “Tom, I don’t think—”

Hurdy turned on him. “You losing your nerve too?” Daniel knew he wasn’t meant to survive this—not with Hurdy using iron on him, and throwing around names. Names Daniel recognized. “Wouldn’t you do the same if you had the chance? Self-righteous bastard had no call—”

“She did not authorize this,” Trevor said.

“Just shut your mouth!” Hurdy raised the bloody knife, the point inches from Trevor’s face. Trevor flinched, but he didn’t pull away. “You hear me, Trev—I’m in charge. She put me in charge—”

“Why?” Daniel’s raw whisper cut through the tirade.

Hurdy smiled, and instead of using the knife again, he flipped the pendant Daniel wore out of the way and dug the sharp edge of his garnet signet ring into the left side of Daniel’s chest.

Daniel tried to jerk away. One hand fisted in his hair, halted his retreat.

“Since you’ll be dead,” Hurdy tightened his grip, “you don’t need to know.”

by Caris Roane

*In this excerpt from Chapter 3 of  TRAPPED*

Alesia awakens to find her man in trouble. He hasn’t fed recently and suffers the crippling, deadly effects of blood-starvation. She’s trapped with him in his home because of an enemy attack.

Alesia opened her eyes, uncertain what had awakened her. For a moment, she wasn’t even sure where she was.

She looked around and recognized Zephyr’s bedroom, but he was no longer in bed with her. Glancing at the open door of the bathroom, she was pretty sure he wasn’t in there either.

Exhaustion crowded her and her heart seemed to be laboring in her chest. She’d been feeling like this a lot in recent weeks, especially when Zephyr would show up last thing at night to take her home. A couple of times, she’d almost offered to feed him just because she felt certain she’d feel better if she opened a vein for him.

She sat up and rubbed her chest.

Then she heard his voice. “You can’t come? Are you sure?” A pause. “No, that’s okay. I’ll call someone else.” A heavy groan followed.

Her senses came alert and her drowsiness disappeared.

Zeph was in trouble. She could feel it now.

She slipped from bed, wearing a long t-shirt of his that hit her mid-thigh.

She hurried into the living room, took one look at his pallor, and made a quick decision. “Zeph, you need to feed, as in now.”

He looked up at her, his arms around his stomach, his body bent over in pain. His blue eyes had a wild, almost feverish appearance.

“Oh, dear sweet Goddess, why didn’t you reach for me? Damnit, you’re the most stubborn man.”

She dropped in front of him, and swept her hair away from her throat. “Take what you need.”

He probably couldn’t have stopped if he’d wanted to.

He fell on her, pushing her to the floor, his fangs at her throat, striking to just the right depth. Withdrawing his fangs, he sucked hard, too hard.

She beat at his shoulders. “Zeph, you’ll collapse the vein. Ease back.”

He pulled away and struggled through several deep breaths. He resumed, more gently this time, and her blood began to flow.

She patted his back. “Better. Much better. You’re okay. You’ll be okay. You’ll be fine.”

He was so close to death, the man who had saved her life just a few hours earlier.

She’d never fed a vampire before, but after about a minute, she began to experience an extraordinary euphoria, like nothing she’d ever known before. Her heart felt light and free. She realized she hadn’t truly felt normal in weeks.

Now that she did, she rubbed his shoulders but wanted more than just the feel of the flannel beneath her hands.

She caressed his bare neck, and slipped her fingers down his back, savoring his warm skin. Her hips arched against him and that’s when she felt that he was fully aroused, a very natural state for a vampire, lying on top of a woman and taking from her throat.

He groaned, and though he continued to nurse at her throat, he pathed. Don’t do that, Alesia. I won’t be able to control myself. Damn all the elf lords, but your blood has the flavor of berries steeped in wine. I’ve never tasted anything like this in my life. And the power that comes with each hit. I feel like I could do anything.

Maybe it was his voice in her head, or maybe her own latent desire for the man, but desire flooded her like a sudden tsunami. She pulled away from him and started tearing at his pajamas.
