Just Like a Musical
by Milena Veen
Summary from Goodreads:
When Mrs. Wheeler ends up in hospital, just after telling Ruby her long-kept secret, Ruby decides to break her mother's rules and embark on a journey that will change her life forever.
When I started reading Just Like a Musical, I must say, my mind began to see history as one of those cute independent stories that go to the movies to see (or good in my case sometimes I make an occasional visit to the cinema indie). It is beautiful and a trip where you are well accompanied by two likable characters: Ruby and Joshua.
I must admit that at one point I was divided, because it seems an incredible story, I could see the characters clearly in my head, have a description and personalities that go beyond the book, I loved it Rubi have tastes very similar to mine, and Joshua is a charming character, he has Tourette, and this at the same level of Rubi, but he also had his way also to go and look, and of somehow was very independant at the same time and very attached to Rubi (though it was narrated by Rubi) me make laugh in some parts, and if I had to choose between these two, simply could not, I loved too.
The story has a very nice end with a teaching, management in some aspects of adolescence, his quest to find themselves, and confront external situations that affect your life as the Rubi mom's with a bit exaggerated sometimes in their care and his father separated from them, or Joshua with his illness, and a sad time in your life, make it a good read for YA.
On the other hand felt that in some parts I was missing something a little bit more, that would be something such as, about friendship of Rubi with Mrs. Wheeler , somewhere felt that reading was lost or hanging from a thin thread that situation, because for me I think it's one of the strengths of Rubi when decides to leap to life. It would only look after of those details that make hesitate a microsecond and then you re-connect.
